1What is BodyTalk?

BodyTalk is a simple, safe and astonishingly effective system of integrative health care. BodyTalk is a holistic approach to healing, based on proven principles of energy medicine. The body is a complex ecosystem with a delicate balance between physiological biochemical functions, emotional and mental interactions, environmental influences, and hereditary and genetic restrictions. BodyTalk helps synchronize the body’s natural functions – to achieve and maintain healing and growth on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

2How to Prepare for a BodyTalk Session?

Make a list of your complaints. Write down the symptoms that have been nagging for days, months, and years. Nothing is seemingly too insignificant or vague: tiredness, pains, loss of physical functioning, and angry or sad feelings around someone you love or aversion to certain substances could all qualify. Just think of the things in your life that irritate or slow you down – occasionally – or always!

3What Procedures are used in a BodyTalk Session?

A brief medical history is taken, identifying particular symptoms, pains or chronic health issues. Fully clothed you will be asked to rest face up, on a massage table. You will be kept informed of the formulas being used. Most people feel relaxed as they are asked to breathe deeply while the BodyTalk practitioner gently taps on the head and sternum (heart complex). The duration of a session is not indicative of the quality of the session or the results that occur. Because your innate wisdom is dictating the session, you can be assured of receiving exactly what is needed at that particular time for the enhanced communication and balancing to take place. A BodyTalk session usually lasts between 15-60 minutes. Your innate wisdom will dictate when the session is complete and establish a time when you need to return for a follow-up session.

4Can anything go wrong during a session?

No one can be hurt with BodyTalk. If a technique is incorrectly done, it simply means there will be no result or change. It will not make the situation worse. Your body’s own innate wisdom is running the session.

5What can I expect after a BodyTalk session?

Immediately after a session you may, in fact, feel little. Encouraged to drink lots of water following a session, for a day or two you may need to use the washroom often. Toxins that have blocked the natural, healthy flow of body processes are being secreted.

During these first few hours, you may notice some awareness or feelings in parts of your body you hadn’t noticed for a while. You may enjoy some new clarity, deep relaxation, or subtle changes in overall functioning. When we begin to feel good again, we blessedly and quickly forget how bad pain and discomfort can be. Moving so quickly and effortlessly into a healthy functioning body, some clients simply forget that the BodyTalk session they had only the week before is the reason why even chronic conditions have disappeared for good.

Like anyone, BodyTalk professionals like to be remembered for the great work they do!

6How does BodyTalk work?

BodyTalk uses the principles of energy medicine and your body’s innate wisdom to help it promote healing on all levels. BodyTalk practitioners find out what your body needs to rebalance the flow of healthy energy.

A BodyTalk practitioner is trained to silently ask your body a series of questions outlined on an extensive Protocol and Procedure chart. Your body knows what needs to heal. And it knows the priority the healing should take.

In BodyTalk, your body’s choice is ALWAYS honored. The sequence to be addressed is determined by your body’s own innate intelligence or wisdom. To promote faster healing, the proper order of linking is most important.

A special technique – lightly tapping on your head and your heart – is used to restore the communication systems within your body/mind. This links those parts that your body has prioritized.

Healing happens when parts of your body are re-synchronized and communicating with each other.

Your body knows how to heal itself – it just needs to remember!

7What are the Balancing principles of BodyTalk?

Ask the Body – Biofeedback testing provides a Yes/No communication between your body’s innate wisdom and your practitioner, indicating what part to balance and when.

Linking – Good health depends on optimum communication amongst all the systems of your body. The practitioner asks your body which organs, endocrine glands, body parts, etc need to be linked to facilitate healing and renew vigor.

The Tapping Procedure – One of the most important developments in the BodyTalk System, gently tapping on the body to get it to focus on healing has been part of some indigenous holistic systems, such as yoga, for centuries. Tapping the head (brain) to ‘fix’ the faulty communication and the sternum (heart complex) to ‘store’ the fix facilitates the body’s own ability to restore and maintain its optimum balance.

Exaggerated Breathing – Exaggerated breathing helps your body locate and target the corrections. Inhaling scans the higher frequencies of your body/mind including thoughts and emotions, while exhaling scans the denser frequencies – tissue, muscle and bone.

8How does BodyTalk address injury and illness?

Thanks to the Innate Wisdom of Your Body.
BodyTalk is based on the simple, profound principle that your body is capable of healing itself at all levels. ‘Natural’ healing is automatically initiated when you cut your finger or twist your ankle. The stresses of daily living can compromise your innate healing ability and lead to degeneration and illness. BodyTalk reminds your body/mind to direct its healing to these neglected or compromised areas.

9What Professional Qualifications Does a BodyTalk Professional Hold?

A Certified BodyTalk Practitioner has completed the fundamental coursework of the BodyTalk System, re-monitored that coursework, and satisfied the standards of a Certified BodyTalk Instructor – in both a written and a practical exam – that they have mastered the material and the techniques of the System. Many Certified BodyTalk Practitioners are licensed practitioners in other modalities and have integrated BodyTalk into their practice. Still others (including acupuncturists, chiropractors, MDs, and physical therapists) now practice BodyTalk almost exclusively, because they are discovered the results are permanent and fast.
